St. Boniface

Daily Reflection

St. Boniface

Open my heart, Lord.

From today’s Scripture: “…for they realized that he had addressed the parable to them. So they left him and went away.” Mk 12:12

Have you ever heard God talking to you? Maybe not literally, as in hearing voices, but maybe it was a stirring in your heart, or even God speaking through the words of family, friend or stranger. It’s truly awesome that we can find God in the people around us, and within our own hearts.

On the other hand, when we hear God, do we listen? We might ask, Is it really God speaking? Maybe what we hear doesn’t fit with what we want. We might just walk away.

It’s easy to point fingers at the Pharisees in today’s Scripture. It’s a little harder to see ourselves in them, realizing that God is talking to us, yet turning away.

Let us pray: God, you are the author of my life. Today, help to open my ears so that I might hear you. Help me to open my heart that I might accept you.
