Daily Reflection

Seventh Wednesday of Easter

Celebrate diversity.

From today’s Scripture: “Keep them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one just as we are one.”—Jn 17:11

Jesus had, and still has, a great desire that his disciples be one. This would be a great blessing for the Christian world, to celebrate the uniqueness of diversity, but also recognize that we are all brothers and sisters.

Often there is competition among Christian churches for members. There may even be put downs of other churches. This causes a great division in Christianity. To be one we are called to seek that which unites us, Jesus Christ. Can we share our faith with other Christians, attend ecumencial Bible studies or prayer with others not from our Church? There are many opportunities each day. Let us celebrate them.

Let us pray: Loving God, open my heart to my brothers and sisters so that we may be one as you call us to be.
