Second Wednesday of Easter

Daily Reflection

Second Wednesday of Easter

Christ is our light!

From today’s Scripture: “…And this is the verdict, that the light came into the world, but people preferred darkness to light.”—Jn 3:19

If you’ve never attended an Easter vigil service, you should! The Easter Proclamation (“Exsultet”) that we proclaim in chant that night highlights the great image of light and darkness. Holding lit candles, with the Easter Candle raised for everyone to see, the minister sings, “May this candle be found burning when Jesus comes.” This is the way of a pilgrim: to keep the candle burning until Christ comes again!

How will we be truly Easter people if darkness of evil and hatred, pride and selfishness, continue to cover our Easter light?

Let us pray: Lord Jesus, enlighten our hearts with the fire of love so that we can truly be conformed to your will. Amen.
