Second Saturday of Easter

Daily Reflection

Second Saturday of Easter

Fear not.

From today’s Scripture: “It is I. Do not be afraid.”—Jn 6:20

During the first days of Covid, I was terrified beyond measure. I was afraid of death. My idols had been taken away: I couldn’t move freely, I was hunkered down, and, if you know me well, you know that I love celebrations and reaching out. I sat in my room one day, and prayed to my God, that, whether I was abroad or at home in Kenya, whether I suffered death or life, please God, bless me with peace. I sensed peacefulness from God. It was as if seeing Jesus walk toward me on a stormy sea, and whisper to me, “Do not be afraid, it is I.”

I don’t know what you may be going through, but may God who comes to us alive this Easter, remind you that it is he, and you should not be afraid. Why? Because he’s got you covered!

Let us pray: Lord grant us the grace to know that our lives are in your hands.
