Monday of Holy Week

Power over death

From today’s Scripture: “The large crowd of Jews found out that he was there and came out not only because of him, but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.”—Jn 12:10

Early in this holiest week of the year, the Church’s liturgy pushes our awareness forward by giving this reminder in Lazarus of Jesus’ power over death. We are called to see that the trials of Holy Week will eventually bring us to a celebration of resurrection.

Let us pray: Lord, in your victory over death, we can carry our daily crosses because we are confident of ultimate deliverance.
