Fourth Saturday of Lent

Persevere with a generous heart

From today’s Scripture: “Blessed are they who have kept the word with a generous heart and yield a harvest through perseverance.”—Gospel acclamation

With Lent more than halfway over, this Gospel acclamation comes at a great time to remind us to keep up our Lenten observances. One year for Lent, I decided to go for a run every day before work. It was difficult to get up earlier and have the energy to workout that early in the morning, but the fruits of my labor were well worth it. I got stronger physically, and I used that time in the morning to pray while I ran.

As we continue through these last weeks of Lent, be encouraged to keep up your Lenten observance. God will bless your sacrifice as you persevere through it with a generous heart.

Let us pray: Lord God, thank you for the gift of this Lenten season to slow down and focus more on you. Give me strength to continue my Lenten observance for your greater glory.
