First Saturday of Advent

“With your own eyes you shall see your Teacher.” –Is. 30:20

Today’s Reading: Is. 30:19-21, 23-26

Reflection: Christmas is the Feast of the Incarnation, the feast of God-with us. How often do we think of God as someone “out-there” or too awesome for us to behold? The prophet Isaiah tells is to imagine a different type of God; yes, one who is all-powerful, but who also is immediately present to us. No need to wait for another world, no, God allows us to see who God is with our own, earthly eyes. That’s what Christmas will be about.

Let us pray: Show me your face, Lord, in the face of the poor, the dispossessed. Show me your face in the face of my family and neighbors. Show me your face in the Holy Eucharist, and in the face of those struggling for justice. Help me to prepare for the celebration of your Incarnation by finding the ways you are Incarnate among us.
