Feast of St. Matthew

Daily Reflection

Feast of St. Matthew

“Follow me.”

From today’s Scripture: “As Jesus passed by, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post. He said to him, ‘Follow me.’ And he got up and followed him.”—Mt 9:9

Matthew does not hesitate to follow Jesus when called. Would I have had the courage to leave my job and family to follow Jesus through the countryside? I am fortunate to have been brought up in the faith by my parents who were also brought up in the faith by their parents.

The faith is a beautiful gift to pass on to your children. What each of us does with that gift is up to us. Our choices in life are our opportunity to say yes to Jesus. Do we do it without hesitation like Matthew? 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Let us pray: Jesus, you invite us to follow you in many ways every day. Please give me the patience and wisdom to listen to your words, hear your call and say yes to  you without fear.
