Feast of Saints Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael

Call upon your guardian angel

From today’s Scripture: “In the sight of the angels I will sing your praises, Lord.” Ps 138:1

Whether we realize it or not, angels are part of our everyday lives. In their primary role as servants and messengers of God, angels can act as our guide and intercede for us. The Catechism of the Catholic Church reminds us, “From its beginning until death, human life is surrounded by their watchful care and intercession. ‘Beside each believer stands an angel as protector and shepherd leading him to life.’”

Pray to your guardian angel when you are tempted to sin. Ask your children’s guardian angels to protect them. Send your guardian angel to speak with another person’s angel before you have an important or difficult meeting with them. These are small ways we can ask for their intercession as they walk with us and help us through this life.

Let us pray: Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God’s love commits me here. Ever this day be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide.
