Easter Tuesday

Daily Reflection

Easter Tuesday

Run, and tell!

From today’s Scripture: “When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus there, but did not know it was Jesus.”—Jn 20:14

Why is it that the earliest witness of the Resurrection are women? Does it testify more strongly to the truth? Women were considered unreliable witnesses in biblical times. Yet the early Church hangs on their testimony. What are the first Christians telling us?

And it’s not just about women. “She thought it was the gardener,” we learn next. What else is Jesus telling the earliest Christians, indeed all of us? A woman is the first witness; she sees her Lord tending to the everyday.

Let us pray: Lord, help me to see you today in the gardener, in my coworker, in people on the street, in my own family. Help me pay special attention to those whom I most readily dismiss.
