Easter Saturday

Sing of salvation!

From today’s Scripture: “He said to them, ‘Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.’”—Mk 16:15

When you have good news, your first impulse is to share it. The birth of a baby, a couple’s engagement, a new job are all instances of news you can’t wait to share. As the song goes, “How can I keep from singing?”

The apostles had amazing news: Jesus had risen from the dead and had appeared to several of their members. But they were scared and having trouble believing the news was true.

Eventually, with the strength of the Holy Spirit, they followed Jesus’ command to proclaim the gospel of salvation. We are called to do the same. How can we keep from singing?

Let us pray: Dear Jesus, just as you commanded your apostles to go into the whole world and bear witness to the truth, you ask the same of me. Help me sing your praises far and wide so that more people may believe in you.
