27th Friday in Ordinary Time

Brothers and sisters in Christ

From today’s Scripture: Jesus said, ‘Every kingdom divided against itself will be laid waste, and house will fall against house.’”—Lk 11:17

Jesus warns about division that is a curse for all institutions: Churches, countries etc. Different ideas are great and can lead to creative dialogue, but when we do not listen to other ideas, we build walls.

The many divisions in our country have made a fertile soil for pain, and sometimes has led to hatred. Can we listen to one another? We all our brothers and sisters in Christ. Can we look for common ground? The Kingdom can be built if each of us seek to build in love.

Let us pray: Loving Lord Jesus, help me build your kingdom on earth by bringing about rich harmony of love with all people. Today, let me show kindness to someone who thinks differently from me.
