God’s concern for the poor

From today’s Scripture: “Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in their midst.”—Mt 18:20

At a recent class reunion I enjoyed the company of the classmates who were able to attend. With our corporate memory and the storytelling, those who were not physically present began to walk among us, and even to enrich us with their presence. All were united as members of the class.

Through faith and baptism we have become members of the body of Christ. When we gather with some of the other members of the body, Jesus, the head of the body, is there with us. We are enriched by his presence.

Let us pray: Lord, thank you for the many and convenient ways that you provide for us to be united with you.
