12th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Daily Reflection

12th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Thy kingdom come, my kingdom go.

From today’s Scripture: “The Lord addressed Job out of the storm and said….”—Job 38:1

The 3 verses that follow the excerpt above are a miniscule sample of the almost 3 chapters of what God says to Job, whose renowned patience has worn out. He begins to question God. The Lord’s response provides us with a fundamental principle of the spiritual life: God is God—and I’m not.

Let us pray: Lord, in a world where human knowledge expands—nay, explodes—daily, help us not lose sight of the mystery YOU are: a God beyond all knowing.
