Easter Monday

Eyewitness to the truth

From today’s Scripture: “God raised this Jesus; of this we are all witnesses.”—Acts 2:32

On this first day after Easter, we hear testimony of Jesus’ resurrection from eyewitnesses. On Pentecost, St. Peter is filled with the Holy Spirit and proclaims to the crowd, “God raised this Jesus,”—this man who walked among us. Believe us when we say we saw the prophecy of David fulfilled. This same crowd is also likely to have heard the lie that Jesus’ body had been stolen, which as our Gospel recounts, was being spread by the chief priests. Still, about 3,000 became believers that day.

Do we believe? Do we join St. Peter and give witness to the truth?

Let us pray: Jesus, I do believe that you are the risen Lord. Help me be a witness to your love and mercy so that others may believe this truth as well.
