From today’s Scripture: “I have told you this while I am with you. The Advocate, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name — he will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you.”—Jn 14:25-26

From his first encounters with the disciples, Jesus was an intimate, patient, caring teacher focused on building a personal relationship and preparing them for the future. He knew how difficult it would be for them to understand and retain not just all that he had to say but also how they were to proceed once he was no longer with them. Always, his message was one of peace and assurance. You will not be alone. The Holy Spirit will be with you.

Jesus is also talking to me and to you. We have the Holy Spirit in our lives as well. Lifting us up in times of distress. Strengthening our faith and illuminating our path. Helping us discern and follow God’s will.

Let us pray: Come Holy Spirit! Fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in us the fire of your love.
