From today’s Scripture: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.”—Jn 14:27

Peace is very difficult to achieve and even harder to maintain for any length of time. As a mother of three boys, there were very few peaceful moments throughout the day in our house. And even though it has been many decades since that time in my life, the noise of the world, the worries, the struggles, the fears all around me can still intrude on the search for peaceful moments.

True peace, the peace that Jesus promises, the peace that is not of this world, can be found without fail — in him. Walking into the stillness of a Church during Eucharistic Adoration always takes my breath away. The gift of peace found there with Jesus is life giving and life changing. That peace is waiting for us in the gift of the Eucharist at every Mass. It is ours if we open our hearts and let Jesus in.

Let us pray: Jesus, thank you for your presence in the Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist and for the peace that comes in opening my heart to your love. I am not afraid because I place my trust in you.
