From today’s Scripture: “Reclining at table with his disciples, Jesus was deeply troubled and testified, ‘Amen, amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me.’”—Jn 13:21
Jesus had just eaten the Last Supper with his disciples. Before the meal, he had shown them his humility by washing their feet. Now he tells them one of them will betray him. I cannot imagine how painful that must have been for him, after he showed them how to be disciples for three years.
I wonder how hurtful it is to him when I gossip about one of his disciples today and make judgments about his or her mistakes.
Let us pray: Jesus, I am sorry for judging other disciples and for finding faults in them. I beg you to forgive me and to give me the grace to focus on your gifts to them and build them up.
