From today’s Scripture: “See what love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we may be called the children of God.” — 1 John 3:1
Glenmary’s funerals tend to be joyful experiences. When the funeral Mass is completed, the casket is loaded into the car, and Glenmarians will begin singing a spirited “For All the Saints.” All of us are called to be saints. As the reading from 1 John states, we are “The Children of God.” Our home is in Heaven; we are here for a short time.
May I be a saint, yes, I pray. All of us are saints. This day we celebrate all those unnamed saints. All together, all family. What would you wish to be the patron saint of? After much reflection, I wish to be the patron saint of travel agents. I can only dream.
Let us pray: As children of God, saints in the making, we pray that we can follow the Lord as He leads us home.
