From today’s Scripture: “Woe to you, scholars of the law! You have taken away the key of knowledge. You yourselves did not enter, and you stopped those trying to enter.” — Luke 11:52
At the home of a Pharisee, Jesus continues his criticism of religious leaders, addressing the scholars of the law. They incorrectly interpret the scriptures. They do not recognize the Messiah. They obstinately refuse to enter the Kingdom of God, and they prevent others from entering. Thus, they have “taken away the key of knowledge.”
Today’s saint stands in contrast. St. Teresa of Jesus is a Doctor of the Church. She unlocks the wisdom of God and opens the door to understanding who Christ is. We ask for her intercession and follow her example in leading others into the Kingdom.
Let us pray: By the intercession of St. Teresa of Jesus, may I follow her example of unlocking the wisdom of God that I may lead souls into the Kingdom of God. Amen.
