From today’s Scripture: “The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.”—Jn 20:20b
We are still in the Easter Season. If it was Christmas, people would be taking down their Christmas trees already. But the Easter Season, or Eastertide, lasts for 50 days, from Easter Sunday until the feast of Pentecost.
Today’s Scripture shows us the early Christian community, the disciples, together in a locked room, in fear without Jesus. But their rejoicing starts when they see the risen Lord. Is my local Christian community still rejoicing in the risen Lord today? Is our rejoicing a sign of faith, life, hope, and prayer for others? Is the Eucharist the center of our community life? Are we a sign of Christ resurrected? If not, what ways do we need to unlock the door to our hearts and recognize Christ’s presence among us and proclaim it in our daily life?
Let us pray: Risen Lord, our mission on earth is to announce your message of salvation through your forgiveness of sins. Help me to overcome my fears and doubts that are keeping me in a locked room.
