From today’s Scripture: “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ but not do what I command? I will show you what someone is like who comes to me, listens to my words, and acts on them.” — Lk 6:46-47
Discipleship does not only consist in membership or being called Christian. It requires practice, that is, living our faith for us to attain salvation. Who will ever summarize discipleship beautifully as did Pope Paul VI? “Modern man listens more willingly to witnesses than to teachers, and if he does listen to teachers, it is because they are witnesses.” (Pope Paul VI, Evangelii Nuntiandi, no. 41.)
Let us pray: Lord, thank you for reminding me of something so essential: to be a witness. Help me to live out your Word, even the most demanding words in my life.
