From today’s Scripture: “The greatest among you must be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled; but whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” — Mt 23:11-12

Jesus gave us the perfect model of humility. Today’s reading helps me to reflect on Glenmary missioners service in Mission Land USA. In Glenmary, we serve in small rural areas of the United States. Often in places that are losing population rather than growing, like where I am currently assigned in Martin County, North Carolina. Going to these places, we are not looking for great things, but we encounter great people. Together we walk to find Christ alive in the world today.

Let us pray: Jesus, you humbled yourself to serve us here on earth. You are the model I am trying to follow.
