From today’s Scripture: “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.”—Mt 11:28
Yesterday I wrote about a holy card with a picture of Jesus standing in a storm and holding out his hand. Underneath the picture were the words “Focus on me, not on the storm.” Amid our burdens, we often feel we are in a storm. Jesus is the one who walks us through the storms.
Nearly two years ago, a horrible flood hit Unicoi County where I live. I lost four parishioners. It was faith in Christ Jesus that got not just me through the storm, but the people of Unicoi County. Amid all the pain and sorrow, it was our focus on Jesus that saw us through those difficult days and months. In Christ we placed our hope, and in him we found our rest.
Let us pray: Jesus, thank you for walking with us through the storms of life. Thank you for being there when we feel so alone. Thank you for reminding us to stay focused on you.
