From today’s Scripture: “I served the Lord with all humility and with the tears and trials that came to me because of the plots of the Jews, and I did not at all shrink from telling you what was for your benefit, or from teaching you in public or in your homes.”—Acts 20:19-20

To “not shrink” means refusing to flinch when a conversation turns difficult. It is the quiet bravery of choosing what is beneficial over what is comfortable. Drawing from St. Paul — who served the Lord with deep humility — we are reminded that true service, regardless of our specific vocation, is defined by these trademarks:

  • Selflessness: Sacrificing personal comfort today to ensure someone else’s benefit tomorrow.
  • Radical Candor: Maintaining transparency and integrity even when the message is unpopular.
  • Total Consistency: Showing up with the same heart and the same truth, whether standing on a public stage or sitting across a kitchen table.

Let us pray: Lord, give us the strength to be honest when it’s hard and selfless when it’s inconvenient, following the humble example of St. Paul.
