From today’s Scripture: “In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world.”—Jn 16:33

To be honest, I’ve never considered myself brave. When the winds of change pick up, my first instinct is to worry that my little boat won’t stay afloat. I prefer the safety of the familiar over the chaos of transformation. But I’m constantly reminded of what true discipleship looks like: it’s leaving the safety of the shore and the comfort of a routine to follow Jesus into the unknown. Whether we’re weighing a religious vocation, a lifelong commitment to a partner, or the difficult work of healing a marriage, let us not allow fear to dictate our next move. We have to cut the anchor of “what is” to discover “what could be.” Real growth requires radical change, and once we let go of that fear, we finally find the freedom to move forward.

Be brave. Take courage.

Let us pray: Lord Jesus, grant us the courage to leave the safety of our shores and the grace to follow you with a heart set free from fear.
