From today’s Scripture: “‘What can we do to accomplish the works of God?’ Jesus answered and said to them, ‘This is the work of God, that you believe in the one he sent.’”—Jn 6:28-29

We see this passage fulfilled in Stephen, the first martyr. Those debating with him said that “they could not withstand the wisdom and the Spirit with which he spoke. …All those who sat in the Sanhedrin looked intently at him and saw that his face was like the face of an angel.” (Acts 6:10:15)

Let us pray: Lord, give us a desire to do what you want us to do. Let Stephen’s witness inspire us to do it with conviction.
