From today’s Scripture: “God raised Jesus; of this we are all witnesses. Exalted at the right hand of God, he received the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father and poured him forth, as you see and hear.”—Acts 2:32-33
The Risen Jesus is not an abstraction. On the road to Emmaus, the disciples are discouraged and heartbroken. But the Risen Jesus comes to them and unpacks the Scriptures that spoke about him. They found their hearts burning. And they experienced him again in the breaking of the bread.
Let us pray: Lord, help us to be truly grateful for the gift of Scripture and the Eucharist. May we feed frequently from these two profound sources of life and grace.
