Holy Saturday

3.29_Holy Week Header

From today’s Scripture: “Brothers and sisters: Are you unaware that we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were indeed buried with him through baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might live in newness of life.”—Rom 6:3-4

Just as we know about Jesus rising from the dead and connecting with the apostles and other disciples after his resurrection from the dead, we learn in this reading that we, too, will rise from the dead and connect with people we knew before our death. And, as John states it, we will see God face-to-face after our death. These truths give our lives more value and more meaning as expressed in the Nicaean Creed, “I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come”.

Let us pray: Jesus, I beg for the grace to integrate my resurrection from the dead and the life of the world to come into the rest of my life on earth to the extent that my life from now through eternity is one life.
