From today’s Scripture: “Stretch out your hand.”—Mk 3:5

On the sabbath day, inside a synagogue, the Pharisees are on the look out for evidence against Jesus. A nameless man, seated on the side, must have looked up for help. Jesus takes notice and reads the body language of the crowd. He asks one question then, without hesitation, Jesus addresses the man. The surveillance cameras are on. The withered hand is restored. Jesus’ concern for the man goes against the precepts of the law.

Let us pray: Help me to see your common sense when my obedience to the law is too rigid and my narrow-mindedness does not give joy and life.
