From today’s Scripture: “Do not be saddened this day, for rejoicing in the LORD must be your strength!”—Neh 8:10
How many opportunities for sin, for evil, abound! Is it a personal moral failure–petty stealing, exploiting our brothers or sisters sexually, eating too much as others go hungry? Or is it sin on a broader scale–allowing the people of a country to be destroyed, being inhospitable to desperate people who come to us from afar, careless destruction of the earth?
Individual or societal, opportunities for sin abound. Yet grace abounds even more, thank God! We might think we are too sophisticated, too adult, to believe in guardian angels, but our faith tells us that God is watching over us. God gives us the grace to turn sin on its head. Angels are real.
Let us pray: Today, Lord, let me be aware of how you are watching over me. Help me to be secure in my faith.
