From today’s Scripture: “O Lord, our God, how wonderful your name in all the earth!”—Ps 8:2
“Our insistence that each human being is an image of God should not make us overlook the fact that each creature has its own purpose. None is superfluous. The entire material universe speaks of God’s love, his boundless affection for us. Soil, water, mountains: everything is, as it were, a caress of God.”—Laudato Si #84
As we celebrate Earth Day, this is our opportunity to remember how all creation provides for everything we need to live, and to live abundantly. We are the stewards of creation, and Pope Francis’ groundbreaking encyclical letter, Laudato Si, is our call to action on behalf of caring for creation.
Let us pray: Loving God, creation is a gift. Open my mind and heart to receive this gift and protect this gift.
