From today’s Scripture: “Insult has broken my heart, and I am weak, I looked for sympathy, but there was none; for consolers, not one could I find. Rather they put gall in my food, and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.”—Ps 69:21-22
The power and drama of the readings during Holy Week are at times overwhelming. Our Jesus who comes ONLY to show us how much we are loved now is abandoned, mocked, and alone. He is like us in all things but sin. Can any of us even begin to imagine the depth of what he felt and endured in order that we experience his love and forgiveness? Let us fall on our knees in our encounter with such a great gift.
Let us pray: Lord Jesus, may your broken heart heal our hardened hearts so that we might more faithfully in word and action proclaim your love and forgiveness for all people.
