From today’s Scripture: “Jesus spoke to them again, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’”—Jn 8:12
Have you ever been in a room or a space of complete and total darkness? It is a little alarming. The eye is adamantly seeking a crack of light just to get your bearings. One shred of light is enough to give your soul and heart hope that you can find a compass, and it’s impossible not to find it if it is there; the eye is completely drawn to any source of light.
And so it is with Jesus. The tiniest crack of light can overcome the darkness. Placing our trust in him, we can find comfort in the darkness that surrounds us. We just have to orient ourselves to the light that we find in Christ.
Let us pray: Jesus, guide me toward your light of hope and love in the darkness of my struggles today.
