From today’s Scripture: “Jesus said, ‘All that you see here– the days will come when there will not be left a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down.’”—Lk 21:5-6
In today’s gospel, the crowd around Jesus admires the beauty of the temple. The temple was the center of Jewish life. It was where God dwelt among the Jews. However, Jesus tells the crowd this temple won’t last. Jesus does not minimize or water down the difficulties. He himself went on to face the ultimate crisis and upset. However, the crisis was not the last word. He tells us to be prepared, to remain firm in faith. He calls us to be rooted and stable while also being ready to shed everything. He reminds us that without him as the center of our lives, we will be lost.
Let us pray: Jesus, help us to remember to trust in you during turbulent times. Help us keep you as the center of our lives.
