From today’s Scripture: “I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing.”—Jn 15:5
The imagery that Jesus uses in this section of his discourse during the Last Supper paints a vivid picture. “I am the vine; you are the branches.” We are united intimately with him and it is only through this union that we can fulfill God’s plan for us. Jesus says, “without me you can do nothing.” Disconnected from Jesus we are like the barren fig tree that withers and dies (Matthew 21:18-22). But when our lives are aligned with him and our faith never wavers, we can move mountains.
Let us pray: Christ Jesus, when I am in union with you all things are possible. Help me share the fruits of your love with everyone I meet.
