From today’s Scripture: “Thomas said to him, ‘Master, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?’ Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”—Jn 14:5-6

Is it any wonder that the earliest description of Christianity was that of The Way? The very title seems to answer so many questions we have in life. How often do we look for guides in life? Jesus is not only that guide but the very path. How often do we seek to have meaning? Jesus not only gives meaning but gives life. How often do we want to know the truth? Jesus reminds us that he, in his very being, is truth.

As followers of The Way, Christians come to the Father through the way (and the truth and the life) — Jesus. God’s very word is spoken in the creation of the world and in its re-creation. Let us continue in this Way that we might have communion with the Father through his Son and in the Holy Spirit.

Let us pray: Blessed Trinity, help us as we journey on the way. By your Holy Spirit who helps us and your Word who shows us, make us into your image that we might be recognized as followers of The Way.
