From today’s Scripture: “Zacchaeus, come down quickly, for today I must stay at your house.”—Lk 19:5
Replace the name Zacchaeus with your own name. If Jesus had said to you and me that he was coming to our house, would we be ready? I think not only my own physical house but my inner house—my heart—may not yet be ready to receive the Lord.
The more important question is: are we willing to settle our affairs immediately and welcome in the divine guest? Perhaps, next time before you receive the Eucharist, reflect on what you must make right to receive him unreservedly into your heart.
Let us pray: Lord, may I be honest to myself and to you so that I may realize what parts of my heart still remain unopened to you.
