33rd Monday in Ordinary Time

Ordinary Time_Summer-3

From today’s Scripture: “I know your works, your labor, and your endurance, and that you cannot tolerate the wicked; you have tested those who call themselves Apostles but are not, and discovered that they are imposters.”—Rv 2:2

Admittedly these are tough words but I chose them because it forces me to ask the question to myself: Do I truly follow Christ? As a Brother, these words hit me in a special way. Do I follow and lead others to follow Christ?

Perhaps this is the question we all should ask ourselves. Are we acting in accordance to God’s words? I am reminded of Glenmary’s founder who believed all Christians were called to be missioners. Have you lived up to it in large or small ways? Let these words from Revelation convict and challenge us.

Let us pray: Lord, like Peter, make me into a true apostle. After every fall, though it may be often, strengthen me so that I may strengthen the faith of my brethren.

Today’s author is Glenmary Brother Thomas Nguyen, currently assigned in Martin County, North Carolina, for his advanced missionary formation. Brother Thomas Nguyen is one of our 11 students in formation. Support the next generation of Glenmary priests and Brothers who will build the Church in rural America by donating to our Giving Tuesday campaign.
