From today’s Scripture: “Then he told them a parable.”—Lk 12:13
How often we hear the word parable in Scripture. Jesus’ stories can seem too simple, almost childlike at first reading. Can they really have meaning for us today in a world that is so much more complicated than it was during Jesus’ time? Then again, how can I not take seriously the ultimatum in today’s reading to reflect on what I am storing up for myself versus what matters to God?
It is too easy to get caught up in the things of this world and worry about this or that. Only through prayer and my relationship with God can I begin to understand that material things of this world do not always matter to God.
Let us pray: Jesus, help me to be inspired by your words today. Help me learn to let go of the things of this world and be open to truly sharing your love with all those whom I meet.
