18th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Life’s true treasure

From today’s Scripture: “Take care to guard against all greed, for though one may be rich, one’s life does not consist of possessions.”—Lk 12:15

Jesus gives us many warnings throughout the Gospels, all intended to help us serve him in this life and be with him in the next. His ways are often simple; but they are not easy. How quickly we surround ourselves with possessions and move on to the next new gadget or fashion. Instead, Jesus calls us to surround ourselves with love. Can we place our trust in him and not the things of this world?

Let us pray: Dear Jesus, you have given me the path to eternal life. Help me let go of my desires and trust that you are all I need.
