From today’s Scripture: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life…But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides.”—Mt 6:25,33

Last night I had a hard time falling asleep. I lay there planning and fretting about all the things I had to do before leaving for our community gathering next week. I made a list in my head: tomorrow I would complete my reflections for Glenmary; then start on correspondences that needed to be mailed; then the next day I would start gathering what we needed for our time together; then the next day would be filled with…needless to say, I did not get much rest due to my worrying.

Well, my tomorrow began with an unexpected doctor visit with one of the sisters which knocked my plans off the track. When I finally got to the office, I sat down with this reading and laughed at myself. How many times had I shared this Gospel reading with people when they were anxious about things in their life? Today, Jesus blessed me with a gentle reminder: “DON’T WORRY, JUST WALK WITH ME, STAY WITH ME, TRUST IN ME; I WILL SEE YOU THROUGH ALL THINGS!”

Let us pray: Jesus, I am so grateful for your presence in my life. I am grateful for the many times you have guided me back to you when I have lost my way. I pray, Lord, for an increase in my faith and trust in you.
