Listening to God
From today’s Scripture: “When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home.”—Mt. 1:24
Joseph was in a difficult situation. He wanted to act in a way that would protect Mary. We are told he was a righteous man who followed God. God heard his prayer for guidance and gave the answer through an angel in a dream. Upon awakening, he did what was commanded.
I, too, have gone to bed struggling with a decision I needed to make. I have vivid dreams concerning the decision. I wake up and ponder the dream, then run it by several friends trying to interpret the dream. In the end, all my analyzing prevents me from responding in faith.
Let us pray: Lord, help me to love and know you like Joseph. Help me to grow in obedience to your word and to respond in faith without hesitation.
