30th Sunday in Ordinary Time

To love God is to love each other.

From today’s Scripture: “‘You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’” — Mt 22:37

As we sit in a crowded restaurant for dinner, my younger sister tells me that she’s recently found herself growing closer to God. She’s always been a believer, but recently she’s opened her heart to him and let her faith in him provide her with the guidance she needed. As a result, she finds love and meaning in everything and everyone around her. By loving God and strengthening her relationship with him, it seemed everything else was falling into place.

When we make the conscious effort to love God with all our hearts, souls, and minds, we also make the conscious effort to love one another. Through God and through his love, we find guidance.

Let us pray: Heavenly Father, help me today and everyday to open my heart, soul, and mind to you so that I may love you and all of your creations.
