From today’s Scripture: “Kingdom of God…is like a mustard seed that, when it is sown in the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on the earth. But once it is sown, it springs up and becomes the largest of plants and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the sky can dwell in its shade.”—Mk 4:31-32
When I hear about the mustard seed, I think about Glenmary Home Missioners. Glenmary moves to a county, and it is the smallest church in the area. Within a few years, Glenmary works to convert the whole county to the Catholic spirit—a spirit of compassion, kindness, and listening.
Glenmary does this by taking care of needy people within the counties. Glenmarians offer themselves as gifts of God to God’s people. Under the care of Glenmary, various people seek guidance and aid. Glenmary therefore becomes like a big tree of refuge, which offers holistic compassionate care to all the residents within the county.
Let us pray: Loving God, grant me the spirit of compassion, kindness, and listening to help grow your kingdom here on earth.
