St. Anthony of Padua

Pentecost Header-3

From today’s Scripture: “But we hold this treasure in earthen vessels, that the surpassing power may be of God and not from us.” —2 Cor 4:7

I frequently visit our eldest Sister who resides in Carmel Home in Owensboro.  She is known by all as “Sister zoom” because she speeds about with her walker delivering birthday, get well, and hello cards to the other residents. When I enter the building, the staff will tell me “It is 3 o’clock, you will find her in the Chapel saying the Rosary,” or “It is 9, she is in the Chapel praying morning prayers.”

Her vessel shows signs of aging. The treasure within is poured out as she shares the joy of Christ through her card ministry. It is refreshed and renewed during time spent sitting and praying with our Lord.

Let us pray: Lord, help me to pour out my treasure with service, prayer, and taking time to just sit with you.
