From today’s Scripture: “If you choose you can keep the commandments, they will save you; if you trust in God, you too shall live; he has set before you fire and water to whichever you choose, stretch forth your hand.”—Sir 15:15-16
Life constantly presents us with choices; many don’t make a gnat’s nose difference in what we pick. And there are others — much harder — which seem “gray-er” these days. Happily most are not a “Sophie’s Choice” (where she had to decide which child to give to the Nazis) but they still weigh on our hearts. The constant question we face: are my decisions based on Gospel values?
Let us pray: With the psalmist we pray, “Instruct me, O Lord, in the ways of your statutes, that I may exactly observe them.”
