From today’s Scripture: “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.”—Lk 6:26
Forgiveness is so liberating for both the giver and receiver. There are lots of things we may associate with St. Patrick: shamrocks to explain the Trinity or the legend of driving the snakes (at least the slithering kind) from Ireland. In fact, anything you associate with Ireland seems easy to attach to St. Patrick. How about…forgiveness?
Now there’s a way to honor the saint who himself returned to Ireland to minister to a people who abducted and enslaved him—truly saintly stuff. It’s enough to make a leprechaun dance.
Let us pray: Lord, I’m not sure when I’m most like you, but I’m certain I’m acting like you when I can muster the ability to forgive.
