Journey toward forgiveness

From today’s Scripture: ‘Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, The teacher says, ‘My appointed time draws near; in your house I shall celebrate the Passover with my disciples.’””Mt 26:18

Jesus willingly returns to Jerusalem where he knows he will be condemned to die and be forced to carry his cross. How are we called to accompany Jesus on this journey today and throughout holy week? First we might do an examination of conscience. Have I lied? Have I held on to a grudge or resentments? Have I been arrogant and stubborn? Is there anything else hurting my relationship with God?

These are the areas in my life that I need to let go and let die this week. As I journey with Jesus this Holy Week he obediently carries his cross and dies for these sins thus allowing us to be able to resurrect with him.

Let this journey away from sin and toward forgiveness this week heal you. Reflect on how you can share that same healing of forgiveness with others you have hurt or that you know are suffering.

Let us pray: O God, sometimes when I try to follow your son, Jesus, I feel like I am the only one going down this road. Help me to know that you have not abandoned me, `that even during the hardest moments I will find you waiting for me at the end of the journey.
