From today’s Scripture: “He is One and there is no other than he. And to love him with all your heart, with all your understanding, with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself.”—Mk 12:32-33
In this teaching from the Gospel of Mark, Jesus reveals that the heart of the Christian life is total love of the one true God, lived with our whole being — heart, mind, and strength. As Catholics, this call is fulfilled through a life of prayer, participation in the sacraments, and growing daily in relationship with God who alone is worthy of our full devotion. This love is never isolated, but necessarily overflows into love of neighbor, especially in acts of mercy and service, making our lives a visible witness to God’s presence in the world.
Let us pray: Lord our God, You are One and there is no other. Help us to love you with all our heart, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbor as ourselves through faithful worship, sacramental life, and acts of mercy, so that our lives may witness your love in the world.
